‘Cristiano Ronaldo’ to miss Juventus’s match against Juventus, Roma
The Italian Serie A champions will not play a competitive match in the final after Cristiano Ronaldo, who is in a coma due to his concussion, withdrew from a scheduled match against Roma on Wednesday.
The former Real Madrid star, who was taken to hospital in Turin with a serious head injury on Wednesday, is due to be released from hospital later in the week.
“Cristiani is in hospital and will be released at 9:30pm on Wednesday,” said the club’s press office.
“We are waiting for confirmation from his doctors.”
The 24-year-old has been diagnosed with a mild concussion and a fractured skull.
However, the coach has not ruled out the possibility of the Portuguese star playing.
“He’s in hospital with a minor injury.
He’s a little bit dizzy,” Milan coach Stefano Pioli said.”
I don’t know if he’ll be able to play, but he’ll go to hospital and he’ll recover.”
The news will come as a blow to Real Madrid, who were hoping for a breakthrough win to seal a second consecutive Serie A title and a place in next season’s Champions League.
“If we get a draw we’re in the Champions League,” said Milan striker Cristian Tello.
“It’s a great opportunity for the team.”
Pioli will be disappointed with the news and Milan may be left with the option of playing Ronaldo in a match-day squad, or not.
“This is a very sad news,” he said.
“We were hoping to play Cristiano on Wednesday but he had a head injury and we’ve decided that he’s not going to be able.”
The decision has been made by the doctors and the club and I don’t think the decision will change.””
This will be a very tough day for everyone and for the club,” added Milan coach Antonio Conte.
